You don't get many jewels in the crown like the Oasey Beach Hotel. After the efficient pickup from the airport we spent the next 7 days relaxing at this small boutique hotel. The Oasey team headed by the owner Viraj and Ms Lotti could not be faulted, everyone of the staff went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable.
Viraj organised a full day trip to Galle for just under £30 visiting what we liked and when we liked, he even took us to the local Turtle hatchery and a drive round Bentota. If you are looking for a relaxing holiday in Sri Lanka I would not hesitate in recommending this hotel - the Oasey team will make it a holiday to remember. From the start of our holiday to the finish the Oasey team gave 100% |

We accidently ended up staying here after the guest house we had intended to stay at in the same resort was very disappopinting and definitely lacking. We were travelling around Sri Lanka for 2 weeks and, apart from the first two nights, were just booking guest house accomodation on the way.
The hotel is 1 year old, tastefully designed, relaxing and very clean and comfortable. Each room has access to a balcony with a beach/sea view. There are only 12 (large) rooms, plus two suites, on four floors. It has a garden and pool and faces directly onto the beach which is accessible from the garden. The hotel is very secure and all the staff are extremely polite, attentive, (when required), and helpful. The food is excellent and fresh and there is a massage and therapy centre in the hotel. If you have a particular request food-wise, e.g., fish/lobster, etc, the staff will do their best to get it for you.
The proprietor, Viraj Gunatillake, went out of his way to ensure we enjoyed our stay and even gave us lifts to nearby towns on a couple of occasions. He is very helpful with advice on the local area and people.
I have only ever written one review from my travels and this is it. A great and fortunate find for us and fondly remembered, (my girlfriend was especially appreciative after her first two weeks of travelling around with a rucksack), I have no hesitation in recommeding this hotel and Viraj and his team if you are travelling to, or visiting this part of, Sri Lanka. Lastly, regarding price, very reasonable, (about £22/night for both of us, if I remember correctly), especially considering the quality of our stay. |

I stayed at the oasey beach hotel from Dec 30th -Jan 1st and it was fabulous.
The best part of the resort, apart from it's location (right on the beach and close to a railway station) is the friendly staff that go out of their way to accomodate you. The owner of the hotel was always around to organize trips (to the nearby turtle conservation project, snorkelling, ride to the airport, etc) and the staff, who are always smiling, went above and beyond to make our trip comfortable and enjoyable.
The Auyervedic massage was fabulous - and I was skeptical after some bad Indian massage treatments.
The beach is clean and the hotel offers chairs, umbrellas, towels and beach volleyball. For those who can't handle the rough Indian ocean, the infinity pool is clean and warm alternative.
The rooms are very large and clean. They all have a view of the ocean and have enormous shared living spaces and balconies. There is also sufficient hot water.
Overall, this was a great experience and I wouldn't hesitate to go back. This isn't a party destination - but is great for relaxation and family time. |

I was not quite sure where I'd end up when I booked the Oasey Beach, but it turned out I worried in vain, as all my expectations were well and truly excelled and I had a marvellous time.
The Oasey is a pretty, new and very clean hotel with 11 rooms which all have sea-view. There's also an Ayurveda-Center with a wide range of treatments on offer which I can only recommend. All the staff were extremely friendly and helpful and thus made me feel very comfortable. My room was enormously spacious and stylishly furnished, with A/C, ceiling fan, mossie net, fridge, hairdryer, TV, a suite and a hughe terrace from which I could savour the terrific sunsets.
The hotel is only separated from the beautiful beach by a pretty little garden with coconut trees, but I preferred to flounder about in the waters of the lovely pool. Pool towels are complimentary.
For my taste buds, the food was excellent, with a wide range of national and international dishes to choose from. I enjoyed my meals either on the terrace of the hotel or the elevated restaurant right on the beach.
Excursions to the sights of Sri Lanka or airport transfers are all conveniently organised by the owner, Mr. Viraj - even if it means leaving at 3 am...
I absolutely had a ball playing beach volleyball with the staff and cavorting with the two beautiful German shepherd dogs who would keep watch during the night.
All things considered, I had an absolutely phantastic time which was due to a combination of a picture-perfect location/hotel and the hospitality and accommodating attitude of the owner and the staff of the Oasey Beach. |

Stayed in this hotel with my wife and daughter. We were the only guests as July is low season and generally Sri Lanka is struggling with trying to attract tourists because of security situation with Tamil Tiger rebels. Don't be put off by this though. There really are no worries throughout the tourist areas especially in places like Bentota.
The Oasey hotel has a fantastic location right on the golden sandy beach. There is a nice pool if the beach is not your thing. We were allocated two fabulous rooms on the first floor that overlooked the beach. The rooms were spacious and well equipped, although our AC was not quite working properly our daughter's was very good. You did notice a musty smell when you entered the room and I think this is a problem throughout the country as there is so much humidity especially in the summer.
The room was kept very clean and there are nice touches like towels for the beach/pool provided along with water cooler in the lounge area outside the rooms.
The owner was attentive to all our needs and organised a mini bus to collect us from the airport. He also organised a two day trip with mini bus and driver so we could visit some of the other areas like Kandy and the Elephant orphanage (well worth doing this).
The hotel provided great breakfasts, more than one could eat and the meals for lunch and dinner, although basic were acceptable.
All in all the Oasey provided great value for money in a fantastic location. I imagine it will be a lot busier during the high season and if you like swimming in the sea don't go in the summer as the waves are too big.
I'd recommend this hotel if you like smaller boutique type places to stay. |

Myself and my partner visited this hotel during a stay in Bentota. The hotel is brand new, very clean and well appointed. The hotel has been designed to accomadate guests in a spacious manor with big bright airy rooms a superb pool and easy access to the beach. The rooms are complete with cable TV, mini bar and a large bathroom. We found our whole experience at the Oasey to be most enjoyable, the service and food are second to none.
The staff are attentive and tasked by the owner Viraj to make sure that all guets wish's are dealt with smoothly. The hotel offers a wide range of services to ensure your stay is as relaxing as possible, this includes a fully equip massage and treatment area located in the basement. We found our stay to be most comfortable and great value for money.
If your planning a trip to Sri Lanka this hotel is well worth a look, I guarantee you will not be disapointed. |
